Why it's iconic
Powder-white south coast
Twenty-five kilometres of powder-white sand, turquoise reef and barefoot luxury — repeatedly voted Africa's leading beach destination.
History & heritage
Diani has been a Swahili trading coast for over a thousand years, with Arabic dhows once stopping here to trade ivory and spice. Today its 17 km of powder-white sand and turquoise reef have been named Africa's Leading Beach Destination at the World Travel Awards seven years running. Behind the beach lies the sacred Kaya Kinondo forest — a UNESCO-protected coastal Mijikenda heritage site.
